Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 2026-05-23
Pono (the "Service," "App," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and platform.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide to Us
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect personal identifiers such as your name and email address.
- Authentication Data: We utilize third-party authentication services (such as Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In) to manage secure user logins. When you sign up, these services provide us with a unique identifier and your email address. The Service does not view, collect, or store your account passwords.
B. Connected Brokerage and Financial Data
When you utilize our integration features to connect third-party brokerage accounts, we access and process specific financial data required to run the App's core services. Depending on the level of integration provided by your broker, this includes:
- Account Portfolio Data: Balances, equity values, margin availability, and buying power.
- Position Data: Descriptions, quantities, cost basis, expiration dates, and strike prices of your open options contracts and underlying equities.
- Transaction History: Past order executions, fills, and trade histories necessary to calculate metrics and historical performance.
Note: The Service does not store your direct brokerage login passwords. Brokerage connections are managed via secure, tokenized API protocols (such as OAuth) or encrypted third-party aggregation services. All brokerage connection tokens are stored encrypted at rest using industry-standard cryptographic protocols (e.g., AES-256) to ensure your account access remains strictly private and protected.
C. Technical and Usage Data
- Device Information: We collect data about the device you use to access the App, including IP address, operating system, device model, and unique device identifiers.
- Log and Usage Information: We record information about your interactions with the App, including features accessed, pages viewed, option chain lookups, and technical logs regarding order routing.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, specifically:
- To Provide Core Features: To display your unified portfolio view, calculate option chain metrics, and route multi-leg orders or rolls to your broker at your direction.
- To Power AI Analysis: To analyze your existing positions and options chain metrics using artificial intelligence algorithms to provide contextual insights and risk evaluations.
- To Improve the App: To diagnose technical errors, optimize data latency, and enhance user experience.
- To Ensure Security: To monitor for fraudulent activity, unauthorized access, or violations of our Terms of Service.
3. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
A. Third-Party Artificial Intelligence (AI) Providers
To provide the AI-driven position analysis feature, certain data (such as anonymized or contextualized descriptions of your open contracts, risk metrics, and options chain data) may be transmitted to third-party AI service providers (e.g., Google).
- Data Minimization: We only send the raw metrics and position data necessary to generate the specific analysis requested. We do not transmit your name, email, or brokerage account numbers to these AI models.
- No Training on Your Data: We utilize enterprise-grade artificial intelligence infrastructure (such as Google Cloud Vertex AI). Under our service agreements, all submitted position data and metrics remain strictly within our isolated cloud environment. Our third-party AI infrastructure providers are contractually prohibited from using your financial data to train their public or foundational models.
B. Third-Party Service Vendors
We may share your data with trusted third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, including:
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers (e.g., Google Cloud).
- Authentication and security services. These vendors are strictly prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to the App.
C. Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or regulation, or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with regulatory authorities (such as the SEC or FINRA), protect our rights, or investigate fraud.
4. Data Security and Retention
- Security Practices: We implement industry-standard security measures, including End-to-End Encryption (TLS/SSL) for data in transit and AES-256 encryption for data at rest.
- Retention Policy: We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you disconnect a brokerage account or delete your App account, we securely purge the associated data tokens and historical logs from our active databases within a reasonable administrative timeframe.
5. Your Choices and Controls
- Revoking Broker Access: You can disconnect your brokerage account at any time via the App settings. Alternatively, you may revoke the App’s access token directly from your third-party brokerage provider's security dashboard. Doing so immediately invalidates our API access token, and we will no longer be able to pull or monitor your portfolio data.
- Account Deletion: You can delete your App account and all associated personal data directly within the App's settings menu at any time. Once initiated, this process permanently deletes your user profile, revokes all brokerage API tokens, and purges your historical data from our active databases, subject to any legal or regulatory data retention obligations.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended strictly for individuals who are at least 18 years old (or the legal age to trade options in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy within the App and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes are made constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
